ข่าวนี้ต่อจาก มาตามนัด!! Apple ฟ้อง Amazon ละเมิดชื่อ "App Store" แล้ว ทาง Amazon ได้ยื่นเอกสารต่อศาลในคดีที่แอปเปิลฟ้องละเมิดเครื่องหมายการค้าแล้ว โดย Amazon เลือกสู้คดีในประเด็นว่า "app store" เป็นคำสามัญทั่วไป (generic) ไม่ใช่ชื่อเฉพาะของแอปเปิลแต่อย่างใด (ซึ่งเป็นเหตุผลเดียวกับคดีของไมโครซอฟท์)
ที่เจ็บแสบคือหลักฐานสนับสนุนของ Amazon ก็คือคำพูดของสตีฟ จ็อบส์ ในการแถลงผลประกอบการของแอปเปิลครั้งหนึ่ง ซึ่งตอนนั้นจ็อบส์ได้วิจารณ์ Android ว่ามีปัญหา fragmentation เพราะมี "app store" หลายอันให้เลือกใช้

“So there will be at least four app stores on Android, which customers must search among to find the app they want and developers will need to work with to distribute their apps and get paid. This is going to be a mess for both users and developers.
