IDC พยากรณ์ Windows 8 จะไม่ประสบความสำเร็จเท่าที่ควร โดยเฉพาะในหมู่ผู้ใช้พีซี

บริษัทวิจัย IDC ออกบทพยากรณ์แนวโน้มของวงการซอฟต์แวร์ระบบ (System Infrastructure Software) ในปี 2012 จำนวนสิบข้อ จุดที่น่าสนที่สุดคือคำพยากรณ์ข้อที่สิบ ที่บอกว่า Windows 8 จะประสบความสำเร็จเพียงบางส่วน (split success)

ตัวรายงานฉบับเต็มต้องซื้อ ผมอ่านเท่าที่ ZDNet เอามาลง รายละเอียดของคำพยากรณ์ข้อนี้คือ Windows 8 จะไม่มีผลกระทบต่อผู้ใช้พีซีแบบดั้งเดิมในปัจจุบัน และเราจะไม่เห็นพีซีเหล่านี้อัพเกรดจาก Windows 7 มาเป็น Windows 8 (ZDNet ให้ข้อมูลประกอบว่าบริษัทส่วนใหญ่ตั้งจะใจอัพเกรดรุ่นเว้นรุ่นด้วยอีกเหตุผลหนึ่ง)

นอกจากนี้ IDC ยังบอกว่าในปี 2012 แล้ว Windows 8 ก็จะไม่ประสบความสำเร็จในตลาดแท็บเล็ตพีซีมากนักเช่นกัน โดยระบุว่าความท้าทายของไมโครซอฟท์คือต้องทำงานทั้งบน x86 และ ARM ให้ดีพอๆ กัน ซึ่งถือว่ายากมาก

IDC คาดว่า Windows 8 รุ่นจริงจะออกเดือนสิงหาคม 2012 ครับ
