เป็นข่าวต่อเนื่องจากกรณี Microsoft จะเปลี่ยนการเรียกแอพแบบ Metro เนื่องมาจากอาจละเมิดเครื่องหมายการค้านะครับ (1,2)
ในขณะที่ยังไม่เป็นที่ชัดเจนว่า Microsoft จะดำเนินการอย่างไร แต่ดูเหมือนเรื่องนี้จะเริ่มส่งผลกระทบต่อนักพัฒนาภายนอกแล้ว โดยเฉพาะนักพัฒนาที่ตั้งชื่อแอพที่มีคำว่า "metro" อยู่ด้วย
เนื่องจากกฏที่เขียนไว้ในเอกสารแนะนำการตั้งชื่อแอพบน Windows 8 Dev Center ห้ามไม่ให้ใช้คำว่า "metro" ในการตั้งชื่อแอพ โดยแอพที่ไม่ทำตามกฏดังกล่าวจะไม่ผ่านการรับรองและจะไม่ได้ขึ้น Windows Store
"Make sure your app name doesn't include the word metro. Apps with a name that includes the word metro will fail certification and won't be listed in the Windows Store."
อย่างไรตามหลังจากบล็อกต่างๆ เริ่มรายงานข่าวเกี่ยวกับกฏนี้ได้ไม่นาน กฏข้างต้นก็ถูกถอนออกไปเงียบๆ และถูกเปลี่ยนเป็นคำเตือนให้ระวังการตั้งชื่อที่ละเมิดเครื่องหมายการค้าแทน
"Don’t use names trademarked by others
Make sure to select a name for your app that belongs to you. If you use a name that doesn’t belong to you, the owner of that name could have your app removed from the store. If that happens, you would need to change the name of your app and all instances of the name throughout your app and its content before you can submit your app for certification again.

ดังนั้นแอพที่ใช้ชื่อที่มีคำว่า metro อาจจะยังไม่ต้องทำการแก้ไขอะไรในตอนนี้ แต่ก็คงต้องคอยติดตามข่าวนี้กันอย่างใกล้ชิดจนกว่าจะได้รับความชัดเจนจาก Microsoft ครับ (ใครกำลังพัฒนาแอพก็พยายามเลี่ยงๆ ชื่อ metro ไปก่อนละกัน)
